If you are looking for a day trip out of the city and beyond, or what’s on in Perth, there are plenty of things to see and do north of Perth, an area rich in nature, culture and beauty. Since the opening of the new Indian Ocean Drive between Lancelin and Cervantes, a trip to the famous Pinnacles and beyond can now include much more. Within a three hour drive north of Perth there is a selection of interesting and unique attractions to enjoy. Break your trip up, take your time and enjoy pristine natural bush, wildlife, spectacular coast, wide open roads, fresh air and abundant wildflowers.

Scarborough Beach is arguably one of Perth’s best beaches, with vast sandy coastline popular for swimming and surfing, lined with restaurants and cafes for your dining pleasure. Explore the WA Coastline underwater at the Aquarium of Western Australia, take a dip in the ocean or shop and lunch at Hillarys Boat Harbour where can also take a ferry to Rottnest Island. The kids will love Outback Splash, with waterslides, mazes, playgrounds, koalas and kangaroos. Further north at Yanchep National Park you’ll discover beautiful national park lands, kangaroos, koalas, ancient caves, walk trails, Aboriginal culture and peaceful picnic spots.

Visit the famous Pinnacles at Nambung National Park, which is approximately a two hour drive north of Perth. Attracting over 190,000 visitors a year, these amazing natural limestone structures were formed approximately 25,000 years ago. Near Cervantes you can also discover the Stromatolites at Lake Thetis, which are the some of the world’s oldest fossils, providing the most ancient records of life on earth. Heading further north take a drive along the stunning Turquoise Coast to the quaint sea side town of Jurien Bay, which is home to the Jurien Bay Marine Park, resident sea lions and during migration season from June to December, the majestic humpback whales.
