In just 20 minutes by car, you can leave Perth City behind and enjoy the breath-taking scenery and world-class facilities of Scarborough Beach. Also easily accessible by public transport, Scarborough is the gateway to a sheltered coastline boasting Mettams Pool, North Beach and Watermans Bay. The pristine beaches and crystal clear water are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. With cycle pathways and easy pedestrian access, they can be explored by either foot or bike to enjoy the sun, sand and scenery.
With vast sandy coastline and some of Perth’s best breaks, Scarborough is arguably Perth’s most popular beach with tourists and locals alike. Neighbouring Trigg Beach is home to Perth’s most consistent surf break, with local spots like Watermans Bay and Trigg Point also renowned for their surf. Lessons and board hire are available from local surf schools and surf shops and kite-surfing is permitted off Scarborough, Brighton and Trigg Beaches.
The Scarborough foreshore has recently transformed into a vibrant stretch of coastline with two memorable pedestrian promenades, a huge children’s playground, art projects, variety of skate bowls, climbing wall, half-court basketball, amphitheatre and famous Sunset Hill, all in an incredible setting.
Add to this, the world-class Scarborough Beach Pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. The only beachside pool in Western Australia and geothermally heated so it can be enjoyed all year round. The main lap pool has eight 50m lanes and four 25m lanes so there is plenty of space for swimmers of all abilities. In addition, there is a separate shallow leisure pool heated to 32oC and ideal for relaxing and swimming lessons.
The pool complex includes Cocolat Café open to pool users and beachgoers alike and on the top floor is La Capannina Italian Restaurant with million dollar views. There are many other cafes, bars, restaurants and retail shops to explore, so why not stay the night and take advantage of the large range of accommodation from backpacker hostels, affordable family apartments to luxury hotels with ocean views.
